Matt describes himself as an ordinary guy who has a passion for helping other ordinary people grow as life-giving friends and followers of Jesus. His full-time leadership role with Exodus focuses on providing visionary leadership and being the primary teaching voice on Sunday mornings. He and his wife, Kathie, started Exodus Church in 2002 and have pastored the church ever since. Matt (originally from Columbus, IN) and Kathie (originally from Akron, OH) are both graduates from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. Kathie has a M.S. in Higher Education from IU and works as a career coach at the College of Arts and Sciences at IU. Matt, an ordained pastor, has a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from IU. He has served as volunteer chaplain for the IU football team, and occasionally serves as an Adjunct Instructor at the IU School of Education. Matt and Kathie have four children – three twenty-somethings and one teenager–Gretchen; Mark; Allison; and David.
